コミックマーケット86企業ブースにて「STOP!違法ダウンロード リターンズ」キャンペーンを開催しました August.17.2014

From August 15 (Fri) to 17 (Sun), 2014, Japan and International Motion Picture Association (JIMCA), with the support of the Association of Japanese Animation (AJA), launched an awareness campaign with the theme of “STOP! Illegal Download”at a corporate booth of the Comic Market 86 held at Tokyo Big Sight.

Highlights of the campaign included:

The free distribution of Comic Market exclusive original DVDs of “Mimorin’s Room ~STOP! Illegal Download~”and original shopping bags of “Majimoji Rurumo & STOP! Illegal Download”

Along with the original shopping bags, DVDs regarding “Illegal Download”and other educational information explained by Ms. Suzuko Mimori, the voice actress who plays the role of Rurumo in the animated show “Majimoji Rurumo”, and Mr. Takashi Ajimura, Representative Director of JIMCA, were distributed for free.

The photo opportunities for visitors to the booth with Camcorder Guy

Visitors to the booth who swore “not to download illegally”were given the opportunity to take a photo with the character, Camcorder Guy, who appears in the promotional trailer “NO MORE MOVIE THEFT”which has been presented prior to the screening of movies at all cinemas in Japan since 2007 as part of the movie theft prevention campaign co-implemented by the “Let’s Go To The Cinema!” Committee.

The Copyright Mini-Talk Shows with the special guest, Ms.Yurika Endo, the voice actress renowned for the role of Tanako Kujirai from the animated show “Majimoji Rurumo”

Mini-Talk Shows between Ms. Yurika Endo and Mr. Takashi Ajimura, Representative Director of JIMCA, were delivered. When Ms. Endo asked,
“Is there any impact on the cast and the staff from illegal download?”, Mr. Ajimura said, “If people upload or download illegally, production companies and artists cannot gain reasonable compensation. New titles are also unable to be produced if production costs cannot be retrieved. Additionally, it would be difficult to develop new talent able to make content. Please tell your friends and families ‘Stop uploading and downloading illegally!!’”

Mr. Michael C. Ellis, President and Managing Director, Asia Pacific, Motion Picture Association (MPA), said, “I was thrilled to be able to witness the passion and enthusiasm for culture and creativity at Comic Market with tremendous support for respecting copyright in all forms.”

According to the post announcement of the event hosts, approximately 550,000 people attended the largest Japanese comic event “Comic Market 86”during the three days this year.
The STOP! Illegal Download Returns booth had 18,000 visitors, and the campaign ended with tremendous success.
