Use of Copyrighted Works owned by MPA Member Companies

In order to exclude their copyrighted works from the New Compulsory Licensing System under Article 67-3 of the Copyright Act (Act No. 48 of 1970), which will come into effect on April 1, 2026, the MPA Member Companies hereby publicly express their intent regarding whether or not they allow the use of the copyrighted works . ※1

※1 For the avoidance of doubt, unless prior written consent is obtained from the relevant MPA Member Company, any use and/or exploitation of an MPA Member Company’s copyrighted work(s) is prohibited.

• Netflix Studios, LLC
• Paramount Pictures Corporation
• Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios
• Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc
• Universal City Studios LLC
• Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc.

Please include your contact information in your request. JIMCA and/or the MPA Member Companies will contact you only if we deem this necessary. JIMCA and/or any MPA Member Company have no obligation to consider your request and respond. Please note that MPA Member Companies do not generally grant any permissions or license to individuals to use their copyrighted works, whether such works are registered with the Agency for Cultural Affairs or otherwise.
